COME AND SHARE A CUP OF COFFEE OR TEA WITH ME

Updated: Aug 11, 2024

I'm delighted to announce my first book talk and signing at KOANA COFFEE in Mountain View!! It's been a slog to live, write, edit, and self-publish the book, so the celebration stage of the process is very welcome!

Mountain View is the tiny former sugar plantation village closest to my home here in the Ola'a rainforest. The ancient Hawaiian trail from Hilo to Kilauea volcano passed through and in the 1800s the Half-Way House hosted overnight visitors on their two-day trek to the summit. The oldest structures in the town are from the heyday of the plantation era, including the famous Mountain View Stone Cookies bakery founded in 1936 and the 1940s era store and theater site which is now home to Koana Coffee.

The owners of this three-year old specialty coffee, tea and chocolate shop say that they are "thrilled to open our understanding for coffee and the cultures it fuels. In our mind, coffee is a comfort food. The first step of recommending good coffee is to understand the people, in order to provide an impactful and personal coffee experience. We focus on talking story, it’s our way to exchange our aloha through our coffee stories."

What a perfect place to share my story!

Toe feiloa'i,

Donna
